Get to know Melissa Holst from Swim ARCademy

22Aug2022

We recently sat down with Melissa to find out what she loves most about Swim ARCademy among other things.

Melissa Holst has been an infant swimming teacher with us since we first opened our doors in 2017. We recently sat down with her to find out what she loves most about Swim ARCademy among other things.

Why did you decide to join Swim ARCademy?

I became a swimming instructor after experiencing it as a parent myself. As a mum, I took my son to infant swim lessons and I just loved it so much. I thought I don't want to do an office job anymore. I wanted to get into it, so I got myself qualified through AUSTSWIM and then I did the infant course. I haven't looked back since - I absolutely love it!

What's your favourite thing about Swim ARCademy?

I've developed a great bond with my kids. I love all of them that come swimming and I love that I can teach them water safety skills and new swimming skills each week, and see their progress from week to week and far they've come.

What's a fun fact about yourself?

I secretly like to have a bit of sing-out. Every now and then you might catch me down at Last Drop Beelier doing a bit of karaoke.

What advice would you give to others?

Be yourself, be enthusiastic, give it 100%, put a smile on your face, have some fun with it, enjoy it and do your best every time.

I'm lucky to have found a job that I actually love, so it's easy for me to come to work each day. It's a great attribute to love what you do, be passionate about it and just give it your all. If you're not sure, ask, because there are plenty of us around who want to help and teach you to become the best swim teacher you can be.

Join our team!

We're on the hunt for some AUSTSWIM qualified peeps to join our Swim ARCademy fam!

Do you have a passion for swimming and teaching others the life-long benefits of water safety? If you answered "yes", then this may be the perfect job for you!
