An exciting new ARC is underway.
Since opening in May 2017, Cockburn ARC has been embraced by the City of Cockburn community and beyond. The centre has exceeded expectations in terms of attendance and membership. As such, since 2019, we began asking the ARC community for input into how the ARC should evolve into the future.
Following extensive community consultation, the City of Cockburn Council partnered with Fremantle Football Club to implement a project of expansion benefitting both organisations.
On November 9, 2023, the City of Cockburn endorsed Shelford Constructions as the chosen supplier to undertake the expansion.
In March 2024, works commenced, largely impacting the level one health club and Fremantle Football Club facilities, offering significant improvements to our services for our members and the community.

Why is the expansion necessary? The City of Cockburn has experienced significant population growth over the past 10 years and this growth is forecasted to continue over the next 10-20 years. Cockburn ARC provides a vital service to the Cockburn community, and expanding our health club will ensure we can continue to offer services to the community.
Why just the health club? What about another pool?Expanding the Health Club was identified as offering the greatest value to the community within feasibility investigations undertaken by the City.
With the restrictions of space at the ARC precinct, there is no capacity to expand the aquatics offering.
What is happening with the group fitness studios? You asked and we listened. We are looking at reworking these spaces so that they meet the needs of our evolving community. Bigger spaces where required, the right space for the right class and use of technology to improve the experience.
