Get to know Luke!

25Jul2023

Get to know one of our star Swim School instructors, Luke! This dynamic father of three finds joy in instructing swimming and has an insatiable passion for cricket and Star Wars.

1. Tell us a bit about yourself…
Where do I start...I grew up in Australind, which is a little town about 20 minutes north of Bunbury. I moved up to Perth in 2001 when my now wife started University. I've been married for nearly 14y years (same anniversary date as Swim School Supervisor Tay!). I have 3 beautiful kids, 2 boys and a little girl.

2. What’s your favourite thing about the ARC?
My favourite thing about ARC is the people. It’s an amazing place to work.

 3. What makes the ARC different to other places?
ARC is an amazing place. I have never worked in a workplace where everybody seems to get along so well. It makes coming to work so much easier.

 4. What book or movie have you recently read/seen and why would you recommend it?
As a massive Star Wars fan, I would highly recommend the Darth Bane trilogy.

5. What’s the best advice or saying you’ve ever heard?
The best advice I’ve heard is just simply be yourself. And I love the saying: 'curiosity is one of the great secrets of happiness'.

6. Read a book or watch a movie?
A little bit of both. Depending on my mood.

7. Be able to read minds or be able to see the future?
Be able to read minds.

8. Be able to play any instrument or speak any language?
I would love to speak another language.

9. Eat pizza with or without pineapple?

All depends on the pizza! Hawaiian yes. Pepperoni. No.
