Please note, the crèche reception does not hold cash, therefore, if need to pay using cash, you can do so via the main reception prior to sign-in and will need to provide your receipt to the crèche reception as proof of purchase.Â
Sign in/sign out procedureYou must sign your child in and out on the attendance sheet which can be found at the front of the crèche reception. The responsible adult signing in and out must be over the age of 18 years and approved on the childâs enrolment form.
Please see the brief procedure below:
- If you have a booking, sign in each child on the attendance sheet noting your name and where you will be in the centre.
- If you have not booked and are attending as a walk-in, scan your Cockburn ARC member band or provide your mobile number to reception staff. Make EFTPOS payment and complete the walk-in attendance sheet noting your childâs details, your details and where you will be in the centre during the crèche session.
- Write a name tag for each child using the resources available and ensure all personal items are labelled with your childâs name.
- Complete parent notes as required (mostly for children aged 2 years and under)
- Ensure the child has a clean nappy upon drop-off
- If the child is in their pram, ensure they're strapped in
- Pick up the child before or at the end of your booking
- Sign out each child on the attendance sheet
Please note: We're a kiss and go crèche and don't allow parents/guardians beyond the gate due to health and safety reasons.
Children must be signed in and signed out by the same responsible adult. Please notify staff in writing if you approve of another adult to sign your child out. You'll also need to note the new sign out arrangement on the attendance sheet.
In the case of an emergency where the parent/guardian cannot be contacted, the emergency contacts provided on the enrolment form will be utilised.
Parents/guardians who pick up their child after their allocated three hour time slot, or after the crècheâs operational closing hour, will be charged an additional payment. Payment of this late fee must be made before the child can attend Carnaby's Club Crèche another time.
If there is an order by a court, magistrate or an officer of the Police Force that exempts a particular individual from having access and/or communication with the child, a copy of the order must be provided to the Childrenâs Services Team Leader to protect the safety and care of their child.
Settling children inSettling your child into a new environment can at times be a challenging experience. Every effort will be made by our team to assist with a positive transition.
We recommend introducing your child to the crèche gradually by using short visits before they're due to stay longer in Carnaby's Club Crèche. This will help them gain confidence and become familiar with the crèche environment and our staff.
We encourage you to speak to us about your childâs routines, such as sleep patterns and toilet training along with any strategies you may use to settle your child/baby. This is also to be noted on the parent notes form upon signing in.
Parents/guardians can support a positive transition by:
- calmly saying goodbye to their child
- telling their child where they're going
- letting their child know when they will return.
If a child does not settle within a reasonable timeframe or if staff have any concerns for your child and/or others the responsible adult will be contacted and asked to pick up the child.
Please note:Â if a child shows signs of distress (i.e., vomiting, hyperventilating, continuous crying) parents/guardians will be contacted straight away to attend to the child.
SleepingÂ
Babies/toddlers who require a nap will be settled to sleep in their own pram. Once asleep, staff will move them into the Sleep Room where they're visible to staff. Staff also conduct sleep checks every 10 minutes and record sleeping times to inform parents/guardians upon pick up.
Cancellations and late collectionAll bookings, modifications and cancellations must be made via your online portal under âbookingsâ.
Â
You can cancel up to 12 hours before your booking via theÂ

Carnaby's Club Crèche has a Nut Free Policy. Peanut butter, Nutella, nut food bars and any other products containing nuts are strictly not permitted in the area.Â
Please don't bring your child to Carnaby's Club Crèche if they're unwell; sick children require the comfort of one-to-one care, which is difficult to provide in crèche.Â
If your child displays cold and flu symptoms such as a cough or runny nose upon sign in, you'll be asked to cancel your booking and return when they're symptom-free.Â
Should your child fall ill while in Carnaby's Club Crèche, you'll be contacted immediately.
EpiPens and asthma puffers/spacers are the only medication that will be administered by staff in an emergency. Please give staff your childâs EpiPen or puffer each time you visit the crèche along with their treatment plan. In the case of an allergic reaction or asthma attack, staff will start emergency procedures and page the parent.
As per the Crèche Regulation WA (2006), Carnaby's Club Crèche does not permit children with an infectious illness to attend as this jeopardises the health of other children, staff and other families. Such medical conditions requiring exclusion include:
- COVID - 19
- measles
- mumps
- chicken pox
- diarrhoea
- vomiting
- head lice
- conjunctivitis
- ring worm/tinea
- gastroenteritis
- hand, foot and mouth
A medical certificate may be required before a child can return to Carnaby's Club Crèche after an infectious illness. The decision to exclude or re-admit a child who has been ill will be the responsibility of staff.
Immunisations
We recommend immunising your child against preventable diseases to minimise the risk of contracting an infection. Parents are advised that non immunised children will be excluded from care in the event of an infection outbreak. If there has been a confirmed case of such disease, notification will be clearly displayed on the front door.
Please note:Â Under Health Department direction, a child not immunised against measles (MMR vaccination at 12 months) must be excluded from a child care setting for two weeks once any case of measles is diagnosed. A case of measles must be notified to the local authority.
Accidents and guiding behavioursAll staff are first aid trained and will inform parents/guardians if an incident has occurred upon sign out. Should any major incidents occur the parent will be contacted immediately.
In the event of any accident or illness where ambulance transport, medical or hospital treatment is required, the parent/guardian will be required to pay any associated expenses.
A record will be kept of all accidents, injuries and illnesses to assist in any insurance claims or the outbreak of contagious diseases.
The Carnaby's Club Crèche provides a secure and loving environment that encourages children towards positive social interaction. Guiding difficult behaviour is done by positively reinforcing desirable behaviour and redirecting inappropriate actions. All staff will model desirable behaviour and praise children who are exhibiting good behaviour.
If a child does not respond to a redirection of behaviour, staff will gently take the child to a quiet place to settle them in an age-appropriate manner. Parents/guardians will be notified of the inappropriate behaviour and the action taken. Parents/guardians will be contacted to collect their child should the behaviour be deemed a risk of harming the child, other attendees or staff.
Inappropriate behaviours include:
- Repeated physical violence, such as hitting, biting, kicking and throwing toys at others.
- Repeated verbal abuse such as name calling, swearing and foul language.
Any behaviour that puts a child or others at risk.
Visitor accessVisitors cannot access Carnaby's Club Crèche unless they've written permission from the parents and/or staff. If not authorised on the enrolment form, other family members and friends may only visit Carnaby's Club Crèche if they're present with the childâs parent or legal guardian.
On rare occasions Carnaby's Club Crèche may offer student placements to high school students or students training in Early Childhood or Child Care, who wish to gain work experience as part of their school, TAFE or university program. This placement will only take place if the school, TAFE or university has initiated the placement. If a student is present in the crèche, a note introducing them will be put in clear view for parents/guardians to see. All students will only be accepted after an interview with the Childrenâs Programs Team Leader.
Emergency proceduresIn the event of an emergency evacuation, our staff will:
- remove all children from Carnaby's Club Crèche safely following our evacuation procedure to the Cockburn ARC muster point.
- Parents/guardians will be required to sign out their child out at the centreâs muster point.
