Signing in and out

Children must be signed-in on the creche attendance sheet before entering the creche facility and signed before when leaving.

Settling in
Settling your child into a new environment can at times be a challenging experience. Every effort will be made by our team to assist with a positive introduction.

We recommend introducing your child to the crèche gradually by using short visits before they stay longer in Carnaby's Club Crèche. This will help them gain confidence and become familiar with the crèche environment and our staff.

We encourage you to speak to our creche attendants about your child’s routines, such as sleep patterns and toilet training, along with any strategies you may use to settle your child. This is also to be noted on the parent notes form upon signing in.

Parents/guardians can support a positive introduction by:
  • Calmly saying goodbye to their child
  • Telling their child where they're going
  • Letting their child know when they will return.

If a child does not settle within a reasonable timeframe, or if staff have any concerns for your child and/or others, the responsible adult will be contacted and asked to pick up the child.

Sleeping
Babies/toddlers who require a nap will be settled to sleep in their own pram. Once asleep, staff will move them into the Sleep Room where they are visible to staff. Staff also conduct sleep checks every 10 minutes and record sleeping times to inform parents/guardians upon pick up.

Nappy changes

Our creche attendants can provide nappy changes so long as parents/carers provide nappies, wipes and a spare change of clothes. Each nappy change is recorded for parents to be informed upon pick up.

Creche attendants conduct nappy changes according to our safe nappy changing procedure. Should a child refuses a nappy change numerous times in a session, creche attendants will call the parent/carer to notify.

If you do not want the creche to change your child’s nappy, please let the Creche attendants know.
