Yoga

Yoga  includes a short relaxation, meditation at the end of the practice. Postures and stretches are used in combination with the breath to develop flexibility, strength and control. Yoga encourages  body alignment, balance and calm helping to reduce tension and stress.

We offer a range of Yoga classes:

Hatha
All yoga derives from Hatha is the most widely practiced yoga. Asanas (postures), breathing and meditation create an holistic approach to wellness for mind and body.

Yin
A more meditative approach to yoga. Slow down and find space for stillness. Long duration stretches between 2-5 minutes using props for assistance, helps to nourish connective tissues, such as the ligaments, tendons and fascia with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

Vinyasa
This session is based on physical asanas, breathing and mindfulness. A flow of yoga asanas including sun salutations, postures and balances activities. Emphasis is placed on core strength, flexibility and balance as well as concentration and breath control.

Restorative
Gentle and relaxing. Emphasis on complete muscular relaxation and comfort are emphasized to achieve a quiet state of mind and body using supported poses (with props).

Gentle Yoga
A gentle and relaxing class commencing with pranayama (breathing exercises) and including yoga philosophies. Appropriate for a wide range of people including beginners with a focus on finding ease in the body and mind.

Sunrise Yoga
A great start to the day, our early morning yoga class is held in the warmer months outside by the 50m pool.
 

Benefits

There are many styles of Yoga, some use a flow of movements, while some may use props such as blocks or belts to assist a posture or maximize a stretch.

  • Traditional standing and seated poses, sun salutations and balance poses 
  • Slow down and create space for stillness, nourish joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia
  • Synchronise breath and movement to awaken strength, flexibility and mindfulness
