Lost Property

Lost Property process

All lost property items are stored at the aquatic reception for one week, it will be cleared from the main reception area each week and taken to the air-handling unit to be prepared for collection by the Boab Network. 

The Boab Network will collect any unclaimed items found at Cockburn ARC and find new homes for the items amongst the remote communities that the network supports http://www.boabnetwork.org/ opens in a new window 

 

Items such as underwear, socks, scraps of paper, or anything deemed unsafe to collect and store will be immediately disposed of.

 

More valuable items items such as:

ElectronicsJewellery
WalletsCash
Hearing AidsCredit Cards
SpectaclesSunglasses
PhonesID Cards
Keys 

will be keep in the facility's safe for one (1) month from the time that the item is found. If the item is not collected within the one (1) month period the items will be disposed of as required by the City's Waste Recovery Park or donated to a selected charity.

Staff action required

(How to respond to getting a lost property enquiry)

  1. Look in the lost property cupboard
  2. If the item is there, ask the customer to specify a day that they intend to collect it in the next  seven (7) days
  3. Ensure that the customer is aware that Cockburn ARC is only able to hold items for seven (7) days and that collection the items in that period is their responsibility
  4. Place items to be collected in the appropriate tray in the Admin office with the collecting customer's name, phone number and proposed day/date of collection on it
  5. Send a Lost Collection Notification email (see email template below) to reception@cockburnarc.com.au
"To be collected" items
  • Place items to be collected in the appropriate “To be collected” tray in the Admin office with the collecting customer's name, phone number and proposed day/date of collection written on the clipboard in the same tray.
  • Advise the customer that we only permit holding the items to be collected for 7 days.
  • Send a Lost Collection Notification email (see email template below) to reception@cockburnarc.com.au
     
Lost Property Collection Notification

[Insert Customer's Name] contacted me today with regards to [Insert items to be collected]. They have arranged to collect the items on [Insert proposed day\date of collection] and have been advised that we are only able to hold the items for 7 days, unless they contact us to arrange otherwise.

These items have been placed in the Admin office collection trays.
