Slide Closure

The slides will be unavailable from Monday 22 October to Friday 16 November to complete defect works to the slide tower.

All  three slides will be closed for a three week period to enable the builder to complete defect works remaining from the construction of the facility associated with the slide tower.

The issues relate to corrosion on the fitting and fixtures within the slide tower and improving air supply and exhaust systems. These works require the area to be closed and cannot be completed whilst the slides are operational.

To minimised the impact on our customers, we have scheduled this work to occur prior to the Summer holidays during school term time and have organised additional inflatable and water activities in the 50m pool over weekends.

The remedial works shall have no impact on public safety and safety management plans will be in place to limit any impact on customers and centre operations.

The works will not impact other areas within the aquatic area, however there will be some road closures at the front of the centre at times due to cranes and lifting equipment being in use. We will keep our alerts tool up to date with any road closures that may impact visitors.

Why are the slides unavailable?
As part of our commitment to ensuring the facilities at Cockburn ARC meet customer expectation, the centre is required to undertake a closure of the slides and slide tower to enable the building contractors to complete minor building works to resolve defects from the original construction.
How long will the slides be unavailable?
Monday 22 October - Friday 16 November 2018. We anticipate the slides will resume normal operations on Saturday 17 November.
What will be addressed during the shutdown?
Contractors will be resolving corrosion issues on fitting and fixtures within the slide tower and improving air supply and exhaust systems. These works require the area to be closed and cannot be completed whilst the slides are operational.
What areas will be impacted?
The three slides will be impacted during the works. This is to ensure the safety of staff, customers, members and contractors during the works. No other areas of the aquatic facility will be impacted and will operate as normal.
What other recreational and play opportunities do you have whilst the slides are unavailable?
The Centre has organised additional inflatable play equipment to be located in the outdoor 50m pool during the closure, in addition to its existing inflatable obstacle courses. Access to the additional amusement activities will be included in the standard entry price to the aquatic facilities, providing children an alternative fun activity whilst the slides are unavailable.

The additional amusement activities will operate on weekends, Saturday’s 11am to 2pm and Sunday’s 11am to 2pm. The activities will be subject to weather conditions.
Will the work disrupt any other parts of the aquatic centre?
No, the works are isolated to the water slides only. All other remaining pools remain operational and available to members and customers.
Will there be any disruptions to other areas at Cockburn ARC?
The Centre has made every effort to minimise the amount of disruption to members and customers. It is unlikely there will be any impact to other areas of the centre. There is likely to be road closures in place during periods of the works, to enable contractors to lift equipment to the roof of the centre. Our alerts section on website will be updated regularly to keep members and customers informed.
When will the water slides reopen?
We anticipate the slides will return to normal operations as of Friday 17 November 2018.
How can I keep informed of what is going on?
We encourage customers to follow our Facebook page, as an announcement will be made when the slides resume operations. Our alerts section on the website will be updated to keep members and customers informed.
I have more questions, who can I contact?
For further information, please contact us on 9411 3344 or info@cockburnarc.com.au and a member of staff will assist your enquiry.
