What is Cockburn ARC doing about the coronavirus situation?
We are taking additional precautionary measures to ensure the health and safety for all our members, visitors and staff, in view of the ongoing development with regards to COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. These include:
  1. Increasing the frequency of cleaning and sanitisation of the entire centre
  2. Providing hand sanitisation for all members and staff use
  3. Public education signage on hygiene and cleanliness best practices
  4. Implementation of non-contact greetings
What can members do to help?
Public safety and keeping our centre safe and clean for everyone requires a collective effort from us all. We need your help to keep our Centre safe by adopting the following precautionary measures in order to ensure public health and safety:
  1. Observe good personal hygiene and practice regular handwashing with soap supplied
  2. Maintain good personal hygiene in the gym, by placing towels on equipment and mats before use and wiping them down thoroughly after use with sanitation wipes supplied
  3. Exercise the same personal best practices that are standard for a typical flu season (eg frequent and washing) and use available hand sanitiser stations
  4. Consider no-contact greetings with members of public during your interactions, refraining from personal contact.
What will Cockburn ARC do if there are any confirmed cases at the Centre?
For the safety of our members, guests and employees, the Centre would follow all recommendations from the Department of Health should a confirm case occur. In the event a confirmed case occurs at the Centre, all members and staff who has close contact with the person involved will be asked to stay home to monitor their condition and to seek medical attention if unwell.

We continue to do our part to mitigate any risk by increasing cleaning and sanitation throughout the Centre.

What if I have come in contact with someone displaying symptoms of Coronavirus?
If you believe you have come in contact with someone and you are feeling unwell, we recommend you seek prompt medical advice.

Is it safe to swim in the pools?
For the safety of our members, guest and employees, the Centre operates its aquatic facilities in line with all legislative requirements outlined by the Department of Health. There are no known or confirmed cases which involve cross contamination within a commercial swimming pool.

We will continue to operate our pools in line with all legislative requirements and monitor water quality frequently.

Why hasn’t the City of Cockburn shut down Cockburn ARC?
At this time, Cockburn ARC remains open with all programs, services and facilities progressing as usual, albeit with heightened awareness for the need for precautionary hygiene measures. In the eventuality that Cockburn ARC is required to close for a period, this recommendation would be made by the Department of Health (DOH) with the City following all recommendations provided by the Department.

Given the current situation, I would like to cancel or suspend my membership or swim enrolment for now, how do I do that?
Our membership suspension terms and conditions remain unchanged and members may still put their membership on hold. The usual terms apply, in that members may suspend memberships up to 84 days each year. You may speak to one of our team members for any specific requests at info@cockburnarc.com.au for further assistance.
