Cockburn ARC raises over $4000 for Push-Up Challenge

29Jun2022

Over June, we urged our members and staff to take on The Push-Up Challenge and achieved an incredible result!

In 2020, 3139 people sadly lost their lives to suicide in Australia. That why, during the month of June, we encouraged our staff and members to take on The Push-Up Challenge to help raise awareness of the impact of mental health on the lives of Australians.

We're excited to announce that across the 24 days we banked up 119,058 push-ups and raised a whopping $4752.70 and counting!

Justin Brown, our Health Club Team Leader, said these funds are vital and will help Lifelife WA continue their critical work providing crisis support services, advocating for change and running prevention programs, so no one has to go through their darkest moments alone.

"At Cockburn ARC, our goal is to help all people feel the healthiest and happiest they can be, physically and mentally.

"The Push-Up Challenge is a fun way to get people moving for a good cause, so of course we were excited to get our staff and members involved.

"The latest survey by the ABS shows that 20% of Australians have had a mental or behavioural condition. That means it's likely that many of our members have been impacted or know someone who has.

"We originally aimed to raise $1000 but have gone above and beyond this and raised close to $5000 for Lifeline WA, a vital support service for people impacted by mental health.

"Thank you to everyone who helped us reach this incredible result, whether that be through working up a sweat doing push-ups or donating to our team - every little bit helps!" said Justin.

A big thanks to everyone who got involved. The thought of doing another push-up probably makes your arms tremble, but the realisation of what you've achieved has undoubtedly made it all worth it. You have made all the difference pushing for better mental health.

Please keep talking about mental health with your loved ones and remember to speak out when in need.

It's okay not to feel 100% all the time. If you're not feeling like yourself, there are people here to listen and support you, so you don't have to go it alone.

We're here for you
