Aquatic Maintenance Shut Down

26Mar2018

We will be shutting the slides and the leisure pool in order to enable contractors to complete works.

In late March and late April, the  centre will need to shut down the water play area and the waterslides  to enable contractors to complete works to the leisure play pool and waterslides.

26 March to April 1 - Closure of Water Play

The partial closure impacts the leisure water play pool only. As there are no Swim ARCademy classes this week, the learn to swim pool will be available as an alternative for recreational water play.

During this time, contractors will be resolving corrosion issues on fitting and fixtures within the water play area, these works cannot be complete whilst the pools and slides are operational.

30 April to 4 May - Closure of Water Slides

During this time the contractors will be undertaking minor works to address the water leaks on the slides. In order to minimise the impacts on the public we have scheduled this work for the first week of the school term, and during the week days only.

All remaining areas in the aquatic centre remain operational including:
  • Wellness program pool
  • Spa, steam room, sauna
  • Learn to swim pool
  • 25m indoor pool
  • 50m outdoor pool
  • Change rooms and general amenities

Why is the leisure pool and waterslides closed?
As part of our commitment to ensuring the facilities at Cockburn ARC meet customer expectation, the centre is required to undertake a closure of the leisure pool and waterslides to enable the building contractors to complete minor building defect works from the original construction.

What will be addressed during the shutdown?
Contractors will be resolving corrosion issues on fitting and fixtures within the leisure play pool structure and replacing sealant on the slide structure to address water leaks. These works cannot be complete whilst the pools and slides are operational.

Will there be recreational swimming space during the shutdown?
Yes, the Centre has made every effort to ensure recreational swimming space is available during the shutdown. Works have been scheduled during a period in which the Centres swim school program is not operating. The learn to swim pool will be fully available to customers for recreational swimming during the closure of the water play area.

Will the work disrupt any other parts of the aquatic centre?
No, the works are isolated to the leisure play pool and water slides only. All other remaining pools remain operational and available to members and customers.

Will there be any disruptions to other areas at Cockburn ARC?
The Centre has made every effort to minimise the amount of disruption to members and customers. It is unlikely there will be any impact to other areas of the centre. Our alerts section on website will be updated regularly to keep members and customers informed.
