A 3 day program designed to teach young swimmers age 10-15 years water rescue skills in a safe and social setting.
Has your child ever thought about seeing if they have what it takes to be a lifeguard? Or would like the opportunity to learn some crucial water safety skills? Well these school holidays, we're running an extensive Junior Lifeguard Training Program for kids and teenagers aged between 10-12 or 13-15 years.
This program is for strong swimmers looking to further develop their skills. We recommend 10-12 year old’s be able to swim a minimum of 25m consistently, and 13-15 year old’s be able to swim 50m consistently to get the most out of their experience. They need to be able to scull water in deep water for a minimum of 1 minute. If they are in the Swim ARCademy program, those in Excel or higher would get the most enjoyment out of this activity.
So, what you will learn?
- Chain of survival
- How to safely perform a water rescue
- Immobilise a suspected spinal injury in the water
- Practice water safety skills
- Keeping safe in an aquatic emergency
- Use a PFD (personal floatation device) in deep water
- Defensive position
- Search and rescue.
- Water safety education whilst in a safe and social setting
On the final day (Thursday 7 October), we'll put your skills to the test against the group members by competing in a fun mini lifeguard challenge.
Need to know
Program runs for 3 days from Tuesday 5 October (5, 6, 7 October) for just $40

It's run by qualified ARC Swimming Instructors and Lifeguards that hold the relevant skills and certifications to teach your kids the correct water safety skills, in a safe and social setting.
